The historical context of the indigenous Batwa community in Burundi, which has been marginalized, isolated and stigmatized since the monarchic era, means that Batwa children suffer many forms of violence that go unrecognized by the public, leading them to live with injuries, drop out of school and experience misfortune in situations of extreme poverty. For this reason, the GIRIMBABAZI Foundation is working closely with its partners to promote the protection of all children, with particular attention to Batwa children qualified as special-needs children.
